You assume that, if you’re not going to get to kill some Ay-rabs and maybe some of our own young people, that it must be a case of Putin conspiring to make Obama do things his way. It couldn’t possibly be international diplomacy, a year of behind-the-scenes wrangling or, y’know, good news.

Assad is also playing Obama like a fiddle.

If you would watch NBC News, you would know Assad said he will not give up his Chemical Weapons until Obama removes the threat of attacking Syria off the Table, and if you watched Obama on Tuesday Night, September 10, 2013, you would know Obama will not take the threat of attacking Syria of the table We are at a stalemate.

    @TJDestry

How so? Since Assad said he will give p his Chemical Weapons only after Obama removes his threat of attacking Syria off the table, and Obama has made it clear he still intends to attack Syria how is this Good News?

This is not Good News, this is bad news, as neither side is willing to give.

Yahoo this morning has reported that a deal has been struck with Russia regarding Syria’s chemical weapons. President Obama has shown considerable skill in the language of diplomacy, while John Kerry is shaping up as one of the most successful Secretaries of State in US history. I had my doubts about the president’s handling of the Syria situation early on; now we can see how brilliant his plan was. Kudos to both Obama and Kerry.

Tigger I responded to your post 3 days ago at Clay Bennett’s toon and I repeat: Assad can talk but he’s not the one calling the shots.

Just wait – some liberal will claim that Obama is the one who played everyone like a violin, because by threatening to bomb Syria, and trying to get a popular mandate from Congress to do so, he forced Putin to propose a peace plan, and Putin had to think up something effective to save face.

Just like those liberals to try to make Obama look good in all this.

“Just like those liberals to try to make Obama look good in all this.”

And we all know that nothing Obama can do can ever be worthwhile. The best we can hope for is that the plan fails, so Obama can look as bad as we want him to. Too bad about the Syrians, but—you know—priorities…..

    I have to agree, Newenglandah.
It may have been an accidental solution but by not shooting from the hip or the lip, Mr. Obama gave Russia and Syria time to consider what might be about to happen and neither of those two countries wanted to see the US launch on Syria.
Accidental solutions are still solutions. Let’s hope the ‘success’ continues, but more deliberately.
    Respectfully,
    C.

I am not going to requote your entire post as it is still close.
Very astute analogy, that is exactly how it is being called by the world.

al-Assad is impuissant. The real player is Russia. Who says the Syrian government is NOT guilty of the crimes of which it has been accused by the entire West.

Next step: the Syrian government gives up its most lethal weapons, just as Qadhafi and Saddam were convinced to do.

    After which…

A brain ! A live active brain! And online too , also ! The same type of logic that has left wing drones still calling W a liar after all these years , and the weapons showing up in countries where the trucks went. But you had a brain and saw through it all!

I dunno, getting something to happen without expending munitions and lives seems like a WIN to me. Even (expletive) FOX News said (not so very long ago) that if Russia gets the “credit”, it’s a good thing – until now that it’s happening, in which case President Obama is now (anoint, anoint) dickless.

^^Well, considering there were no weapons, or trucks, the lie did get bigger, and those without a brain, or facts, believed them. We took care of Saddam’s “weapons” by 93, as proven in reports, and even Pitt and Ritter’s book “The War on Iraq”, in 2002, before Bush even got us into that brainless mess he totally screwed up at every step!
