Richard Thompson's Cul de Sac, is a comic strip about the life of a pre-school girl named Alice Otterloop. It is a light-hearted comic strip centered around a four-year old girl and her suburban life experiences on a cul-de-sac with her friends Beni and Dill, older brother Petey and her classmates at Blisshaven Academy pre-school. Alice describes her father's car as a "Honda-Tonka Cuisinart" and talks to the class guinea pig, Mr. Danders. She has the typical older brother who plays jokes on her, and she contemplates ways to keep the scary clown from jumping out of the jack-in-the-box with friends.

Yes it is. BTW, Happy 4th of July, everyone!

With every day that passes, I come to sympathize more with Petey’s dislike of the picnic on a metaphysical level. Could things get much worse for him? —Wait until tomorrow!

Well I don’t see what’s wrong with potato salad, but it’s just plain wrong to put ketchup on burgers or dogs.

Nothing wrong with potato salad, but the size of the serving for a pre-schooler is a bit large, don’t you think. Anyway, Petey won’t eat any food that is mixed with another so potato salad is probably bad news for him.

I love this strip; the diminutive Alice with the large appetite and Petey with all his foods fads! Mothers of the world unite!

For me pickles are the devil on anything at all or even if they fly solo.

Happy Independence Day, America! Long may you thrive and be thankful for the wonderful country you live in even if you are going through tough times right now. You still have freedom of speech; wish we had.

Don’t forget, “The price of freedom is eternal vigilance”. And that goes for freedom of speech, as well as for potato salad …

I love pickles, especially kosher dills on burgers & deli-style sandwiches.

I love potato salad but even I wouldn’t eat that much of it in one meal.

Not only does potato salad involve foods touching, but I seem to remember Petey having something against mayonnaise?

We will not truly be free until we are free from the horror that is the picnic

Somehow this particular strip makes me uncomfortable. Petey rejects poor Kevin with whom he has been chatting comfortably because he is identified as a bucket-head, Alice gives Petey a burger he can’t eat and then demands it back to satisfy her greed, Dill is lost in a potato bag…I identify with all of them! Neurotic Petey, greedy Alice, misunderstood Dill and lonely Kevin! Richard! Do something about this sad state of affairs. Please…
