    Oliver Sacks wrote “The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat” to describe clinical cases of synesthesia, a condition wherein your brain gets its signals crossed and interprets, for example, sounds as smells, etc. It’s of particular concern when it involves the ability to recognize faces and expressions, which is a very important social skill among human beings.
