    I like Amaya just for the sound of it rolling off the tongue when you say the full name.

    Well, if you’re not liking “Suki”, then Umi works well – it’s short
    (fewer letters to ink), and suggests “You-Me”, which enhances the boy’s infatuation with Mr. Amasawa’s hotness.
    They are all nice names though, Mr. Owens. Except Aki, that one does not translate well in English, sounds like something Bill the Cat would say! (no offense meant to Japanese ladies)

    Margaret is nice. I looked up the others and I think you’ll want to rethink Umi. It’s an African boy’s name. Closest I could get was Umiko, meaning child of the sea.

    Actually Umi is a Japanese girls name, but now that you mention it, I kind’a like Umiko.

    I, of course, am selfishly partial to Amaya.

    A little research on the name Amaya, and I get a lot of controversy. Some say it’s Japanese, some say it’s not.. Some say it’s Spanish, some say Arabic. I don’t guess it really matters, it is a nice name,

    Another thought: what’s wrong with just plain ole “Mrs.” Amasawa?

    Simon & Garfunkel did okay with “Mrs. Robinson.” Eddie Haskell made a career out of “Mrs. Cleaver.” “Me and Mrs. Jones” was a big hit back in the 60s.

    Just sayin’.

    @Rotifer Thalweg

    Well, if she ever develops a relationship with one of the other characters he can’t keep calling her Mrs Amasawa.

    Why not? That’s what Dustin Hoffman always called Anne Bancroft.

    Or, as Teddy said to Mary Jo, we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.

    When you draw her this way, who cares what her first name is?

    I still think “Omya” would be great!
