A “flat” planet’s gravity would still pull toward the center of its mass, so the “edge” of such a planet would feel like a tall mountain and you wouldn’t fall off into space when you hit the edge, you’d just be walking along the “bottom” of the world at the top of a tall mountainside.

As little as I like Columbus, I admire his bravery. Alas, I’d have a harder time admiring astronauts headed for Mars, because they already have a good idea what to expect.
