How do you react when you're cornered? Talk your way out, prepare for battle or insist you're just fine and dandy? Mike Baldwin's "Cornered" characters reflect the full spectrum of these reactions - all the while doing their very best to be taken seriously. From dark to light to blindingly brilliant, the results delight, amuse or even confuse - but it's well worth the risk. No one's ever lost an eye reading "Cornered" (aside from one reader who got WAAAY too close - you know who you are). In the end it's discovering the inconvenient truth of being "Cornered" that sets you free.

Obviously, he’s not from New Hampshire (“Don’t tread on me.”)

The state motto is “Live free or die.” “Don’t Tread On Me” is the motto on the old Gadsden Flag, one of the first flags to represent the free and independent United States.

That’s what I get for relying on my formerly impeccable memory. It’s now peckable and has been pecked to pieces.

Reminds me of a friend of mine who was crossing the street
one day while reading a Star Trek paperback and was hit by
a car. He survived unhurt, but went on a few months later and
did the same thing again! He was again unhurt. Doubt if he ever learned his lesson. I asked him if he would re-create the
incident for me as I didn’t get to see it, but he declined.
