I just don’t agree. Sure Clinton gave a good speech, but Obama’s speech was just as good in a different way. Maybe not so many zingers, but very solid. And overall, I think Obama has done a good job in much tougher circumstances. My hunch is that history will rank Obama above Clinton.
I will give Carter credit for being an honorable gentleman: he never badmouthed prior administrations or future candidates, and once he left office, he left it behind to help build homes.
Clinton IS a powerful speaker, and overall, was a pretty good president, holding debt growth to only 24% over eight years, instead of quadrupling it like Reagan/Bush, or again DOUBLING IT, like Bush/Cheney. He didn’t start major military involvements in foreign countries that lasted over a decade. He DID manage to end genocide and use NATO to “shut down” the Serb attacks on their neighbors. He DID keep the economy growing, unlike Bush. But, he did make some mistakes, in his PERSONAL LIFE, that Republicans and “blue noses” will never forget, or let go of.
Obama held his own at the podium, and though facing total opposition at EVERY STEP HE MADE FROM REPUBLICANS, he turned around the collapse of the economy Bush, and “Reaganomics” hand brought the nation to. Our troops are coming out of Iraq and Afghanistan. He did NOT start another war, this one with Iran, to please AIPAC and Netanyahu, and the military industrial complex. He DID direct the Secretary of Defense to cut some of the wasteful spending from the “defense” budget for garbage that same MIC was trying to sell. But, hey, that’s just “small stuff”, right?
Can’t believe you finally realize just how happy we “Dems” are with our candidates, past, and oh yeah present. Look at how much space President Obama has to grow into those well polished shoes!!!
Yeah, Obama was never in the army. Neither was romney. When his time to be drafted came, romney turned tail and bolted to france. Also, sure about that jobs thing? For starters, Obama worked as a civil rights lawyer before entering politics. Is being a lawyer NOT a job?
