so, pa pass this law which will disenfranchise 9-10% of the electorate(about 700k-750k votes). and, how is that legal? what is next, voters have to pass civics test, and do the hokey pokey to vote? what do you expect from a state that let a child rapist def coord at their flagship uni covered up his assaults.

Interesting how Rethuglicans can’t win on there own merits without rigging elections & suppressing legit voters from exercising there constitutional right to voting

Ima says, “The original constitution didn’t allow women or blacks to vote.” Do you miss those days?

Here’s how it works in Arizona: Anyone wishing a Driver’s License or non-driver Photo ID goes to the nearest DOT office, provides copy of their Birth Certificate, Passport, or Drivers License / Photo ID from another state , pays the fee and a Photo ID is issued at that time.

Here are the obstacles: While there are many DOT offices in the large metro areas of Phoenix and Tucson, they are few and far between outside the metro areas. In the metro area the offices are not necessarily near public transportation.

Office hours are 8AM – 5PM Monday to Friday

Unless you already have a copy of your birth certificate, it costs upwards of $25 to obtain one.

The fee ranges from $10 to $25.

    The process takes an hour.

Even if the fee is waived, it still represents a significant burden, especially to those who work business hours. Imagine if you can vote in your own town (where many people know you) but have to take a half day off work and get someone to drive you to a DOT office to prove you are who you claim to be.

And for what? The DOJ under Bush II did a study and found a total of 350 cases of vote fraud. MOST of those would not have been prevented by requiring a picture ID. The actual rate of misrepresentation is about 1 in 15 million voters.

A cockeyed balanced, when one compares the harm prevented with the disenfranchisement occasioned. But, of course, vote fraud is not what this is about.

The GOP has long experience in stealing elections. Remember Shrub’s second term.

Mike, if you’re having trouble with the 750,000 number, please feel free to make one up. That number comes from the government of Pennsylvania, which knows how many citizens it has, and how many drivers licenses have been issued. I’m sure we’re all more interested in what your “gut feeling” number is, since it’s bound to be funnier (this is the comics site, after all).

that is what he said “done and done”. The amount of voter fraud over the last 20 years could fit in a minivan easily.Probably even a sedan. Voting site fraud is a different story. Some places the GOP "forgot whole cities, and I heard of another where the GOP vote counters actually took a bunch of Democrat votes and changed them to Rethuglican votes.
