(Man 2: This is an unconstitutional violation of the interstate commerce clause! (It would be ok if it were just a tax.) 2009- Republican talking point in response to Obamacare proposal. (Man 3: Ok, so it's not unconstitutional! But it's even worse than unconstitutional it's a new tax!) 2012- Republican response after the Supreme Court approves the ACA. What if Democrats did the same thing? (Barack Obama: It would be unconstitutional not to nationalize the entire healthcare system. No choice gotta.) (Woman: Universal healthcare is a tax cut on poor people who can now afford to see a doctor.) It wouldn't elevate the discussion or break gridlock- but it'd sure be fun. (Man 4: Gay marriage is a tax on gays- weddings are pricey! So really its for straights.)
