My HS band director used to tell us this. Then there was the dainty, little oboe player who not only was able to stifle a sneeze (and she would sometimes spasm violently when she did it), but did so with the daintiest little snort you ever heard. Band director was always amazed at this.

That illustration of a sneeze is about right except there are times I only “feel” it on one or the other side of my head. Very odd.

This is laugh-out-loud funny! Once, in high school, I tried to stifle a sneeze and broke wind. Life was never the same.
