BTW, another interesting bit of “oil history” revolves around how those same Cherokee were cheated and even killed, when they discovered OIL on “Indian land” in Oklahoma. Then there was the “Homestead Act” that ended up allowing MORE “white eyes” to steal the land. Which, about that Louisiana Purchase for which Jefferson was chided, over the “waste of money”. To be followed later by Seward and his “folly” and still MORE oil, we didn’t know was there at the time.
At least in Alaska, the “natives” got some land, but with oil, we’re trying to take that away too. Henry Ford may have been responsible, by inventing the assembly line, for more damage to “native claims” than even Andy Jackson’s folks, as the search for oil to feed the machines led to more brutality.

Warren is 1/32 Cherokee. Interestingly, according to a leading news magazine, that’s the same percentage as the current tribal leader. Practically its nothing more than an interesting personal footnote and there is no evidence that she ever used the claim for advancement.
Polls show that nobody here in MA cares about this and conservatives are just making their candidate look silly by pushing it.
