Interesting concept, but not what really happened. “Personal View” IS important in judging character, and a lack of fear of those “different”, but not law.
If this issue doesn’t effect anyone, why have 33 states banned it as part of their constitutions? And gay persons do care about gay marriage because it extends to them the same legal status, rights and benefits as straight marriages such for as health benefits, end of life care decisions, etc.
denying people of their rights is not an american value. the sanctity of marriage has had really many bad examples….see a cops episode, kim kardashian, ike turner, etc…and, isn’t marriage really about property rights? and, the argument about a man with more than 1 wife…it seems acceptable in utah, mormon church, sister wives, and big love. and, doesn’t the gop have gay members, pols, pols’ staff?
Nab and others: Let’s stone everyone to death wearing polyester, or wool and cotton at the same time(starting with Santorum??) same “source” of law, and intellect. But most “modern folk” have NO IDEA that some of those early taboos were based on pre-antibiotic, refrigeration, or pesticide days, when those dietary restrictions and other potentially fatal interactions WERE dangerous, but no more..
Sadly, technology has improved our lives, and made those taboos silly, but they’ve evolved into dangerous dogma instead. Even the rule to bury a body within a day made perfect sense back then, but burying intelligence, and sanity is for some, the rule today.
“Most gays couldn’t care less about marriage, and gay marriage loses everywhere it’s put to a vote.”You don’t have the slightest clue about what “most gays” want, so don’t pretend to speak for them. Gay marriage looses because “conservatives” fear change and equality like a boogie man.
