There is a difference between “observer” and “operative”. As horrific as things are in Syria, what would the U.N. have done during our “civil rights” confrontation era? We did follow a better road, but a lot of evidence today says we shouldn’t be too arrogant about all that “progress”.
" The inspectors considered it a lifetime appointment until Saddam kicked them out….".Get your facts straight. Saddam invited the inspectors back into the country in 2002 to resume the search for WMD. Hans Blix and his team of U.N. inspectors searched numerous sites, found no evidence of WMD, and reported so to the U.N. The Blix team was continuing inspections until 2003 when they were forced to suspend operations and leave the country in the face of the U.S. build-up to war and subsequent illegal invasion.

“So, you wont to be a UN observer in Syria, do you? What are your qualifications?”
“I used to referee at professional wrestling matches.”
