Friend of mine was in the pool for a court-martial. Went through a process similar to a civilian jury selection. Realizing that both attorneys had peremptory challenges they could use to throw someone out of the pool without defending their request, he made sure during a recess that he was within earshot of the defense attorney when he muttered, “I hope they fry this bastard.” When the jury phase resumed, the defense attorney pointed him out and demanded his dismissal from the pool. The judge granted. Mission accomplished.
