So true. The house I grew up in was perfect for snowed-in conditions: gas heat, hot water, and kitchen. With a few kerosene lamps, and no noisy TV, it was bliss. My parents never seemed to catch on that without the idiot box, there was more harmony among their kids when obliged to read, do crafts, or play board games.
