Robert Heinlein’s story “The Man Who Sold the Moon” — written back in the old old old days — predicted that space flight would come about through private enterprise, not through the government. I wonder if we had left it to the private sector if it would ever have gotten off the ground? Baslim, you must know the story — it’s a great one. That and the sequel, “Requiem”.
There’s plenty of money for junk science. aka global warming. Maybe some of these folks with their hands held out for govt money ought to retract them.
Debt is the right’s legacy. Killing the space program is a bit more obvious than killing actual American citizens by redlining the safety-net, but it’s impossible to see America staying a great country with taxes at the rates Ryan and Romney project.
