Cal’s commercials were epic and usually ran late night on KTLA after Carson or The Midnight Special on the weekends, and his ads were almost ALWAYS done in one take. Thats what was great… lottsa ad-libbing as the camera panned down the front row of used cars with huge signs on the windows… he once spied a car that had a dented hood and mentioned that Spot (an elephant on that night) had got affectionate with it, causing the dammage… so he was cutting the price in half…!!

Eddie:“We have regulars, longs, extra-longs, shorts, portly shorts and cadettes. And right now we are running a special on the Dupioni silk tuxedo. Buy one and get the second one free!” Died 2006.I was a neighbor for several years of a relative of his, Bob (still very much alive). (Google Bob Nalbandian/Shockwave)

Hey Inspector Monkeyblues and all… I am from San Diego and totally remember Cal Worthington. Remember the song (“If you’re looking for a better set of wheels, I will stand upon my head to beat all deals…”)? Fun memories.
