“At least we aren’t Europe yet. Someone gave a list of the excessive taxes and VAT additions that keep the Europeans slaves to the leaders and in eternal poverty.”Europeans actually get something for the taxes they pay. They get affordable health care, quality long distance mass transit, affective anti-poverty programs, et cetera.
The Income tax is a lousy way to collect money. Taxing expenditures instead of earnings would be much easier to enforce and would encourage people to save.
“As an example .In San Francisco they all went out and got low flow tiolets so the could save water. Now the city has to pump several million gallons of water into the sewers every day because there isn’t enough water from the tiolets to flush the crap on down to the water treatment plant. No one thought that through did they?”You actually made me laugh with that one. Good point.
Taxes are high but not high enough – witness the massive deficit. Where do you think the money comes from to fight perpetual wars costing billions per month and maintaining 700 military bases around the world – pixie dust?
The health care reform says we have to BUY insurance, therefore its not free. Therefore your analogy is faulty. Under your logic, Obamacare is making the country better.
WE are also broke. And in case you haven’t noticed the news, Americans are still protesting. What do my taxes pay for? Tax breaks for the rich and subsidies for price gauging energy companies. Look in the mirror when you talk about blinders. You got your own.
“…….Their free healthcare is bankrupting their countries……..Many European countries have single payer health care and are not going bankrupt. So likely there are other reasons for financial difficulties in those countries that are in difficulty. But in any case, at least they are getting health care rather than military bases around the world and perpetual wars.
