Hey, you mean the ACLU has outlawed tag now? What’s the deal, is it too politically incorrect too? Or is it the insurance companies, afraid the little darlings might actually get a bruise on the their little bottoms or something? Sheeese!

I guess they’re afraid some poor kid might be hurt. In that case you better stop them from playing altogether and make them sit there with their hands folded.

Tag was outlawed at my sister’s old elementary school 6 years ago and still is as far as I know. I’d assumed it was because administrators feared some kids would be pushed down and get hurt, but I later heard it was to protect the self esteem of the slow runners who might feel bad if they couldn’t tag anyone. How asinine! If the kids are out of shape and slower than their classmates playing tag would be one of the best things for them. I can’t believe the same schools who supposedly are concerned about childhood obesity will not allow children to run around and play tag at recess.

Now that I have that out of my system, I’d like to say the dog catcher game in the comic is cute. Sounds like something my sister and I would have played as kids.

@lakita_lover: I hated tag when I was a kid for that very reason. I wasn’t obese, just shorter than most kids and couldn’t run as fast, and always ended up being “it” until the end of recess–if I agreed to play. After a couple of times of that I’d just refuse to play tag and do something else instead.

Next, competitive sport to protect the self-esteem of the less athletically gifted students.

I think in some grade schools there is a PE teacher that gets children in fitness fun activities. Especially more when kids can’t go outside in very cold weather. Children have to burn up energy somehow to study so teachers can get through to them.

Yeah I wasn’t “Athleticly gifted” either. Dodge ball was the worst. Plus in any game that involved a ball, the ball would smack into the end of one of my thumbs and it would hurt for a week. Both thumbs are stiff to this day.

Hey, I’m only 5’3” tall. I “demand” the right to play Pro basketball! They should make all kinds of special rules, just so short people have a fair chance to play. I should have a shot at some of those multi-million dollar spots on the team. Political correctness “demands” it, but reality—gets me laughed outta the room! The quicker kids meet reality, the faster they’ll learn about REAL LIFE. Don’t worry, I won’t really be suing using the ADA, I hated PE.

I have worked at an elementary school for 25 years, and I;ve seen it slip further into the toilet each year! The reason our school doesn’t play tag is it violates the no body contact rule.

Gee, tagging the slowest person would be wrong? Not fair? Isn’t that the object of the game? Why would anyone chase the fastest kid? They would be gone! And I can’t remember ever “forcing” someone to play tag. How do you force someone to play anything? By gunpoint?
