Does this cartoon make sense to anyone? Because it doesn’t make sense to me.

Ketira:Ted’s message is subtle and multilayered. One layer: Americans believe they are free because they can go to Disneyland. Other posters feel free to identify more.

Hey Skippy! Some of the Gitmo prisoners were teenagers totally uninvolved in fighting when they were picked up and sold for bounty. they were not “terrorists” before they were shipped to Gitmo. I’ll bet they’d like to be terrorists now after being falsly imprisoned for all these years. Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfield sure did a good job when they invaded Afghanistan, didn’t they?

Is it just me, or has Rall been all over the place lately?

Under US law, everyone at Gitmo is innocent. None have been convicted, or even charged, in a court of law. The reason they haven’t been charged is that, according to the military, there isn’t much evidence (in many cases, none) that they have committed any crimes. They are political prisoners, pure and simple.
The comparison is, it’s hard to imagine the US liberalizing to the extent that Burma has, allowing political prisoners such as those housed at Gitmo and other torture prisons to run and win political office.

Guilty until proven innocent? If you were in jail, would you like to be seen that way?

Democracy was thrown away with the so-called Patriot Act, don’tcha know?

It is my perhaps erroneous impression that the people in Gitmo are not even political prisoners. That is, many of them did not do anything at all to merit incarceration. Others may indeed be criminals in deed or intent, but there is no process in place for making a determination. It’s another crime against humanity; practice for the future, maybe.

So many of the observations, including Mr Rall’s, are clearly from people who have vast experience in a combat situation. And if I need to explain the relevence of that to you,you are one of them.
