    The Patterson children are a few days late. If this were a Japanese comic strip, Kodomo No Hi (Children’s Day) is on 5 May.

    April 30 in Latin America.

    And Lynn stole that joke from Peanuts.

    My Mum gave this exact answer when I asked her that question.

    They didn’t steal it, that line is on pg 3278 of the parenting manual issued at the hospital when kids are born. Didn’t you get your copy?

    One thing for sure: No nit is safe in the world of comic strip comments, it’s destined to be picked!

    I’ve heard that same line since I was a kid. I’m sure the dinosaurs had a copyright on it. Didn’t make much sense to me then either.

    Here in the good ole US of A, it’s a question with only one answer. I don’t recall ever asking it, but my kids did.And I answered . . .

    Besides Christmas (and perhaps holidays from other religions), Halloween seems to be pretty kid-centered.

    Lucy and Linus’s grandma told them everyday was Children’s Day. Look at all the holidays devoted to kids; birthdays, Christmas, Easter, or if your Jewish there’s Hannukah and Passover. There’s church picnics and amusement park days. Kids have a lot of days that revolve around them! :-)

    No matter what is placed in a comic there is a strong probability a great many have “heard it before”. None the less there are those of us who definately haven’t “heard it before”.Therefore, let the rest of us enjoy the comics without your boasting negative inputs in trying to put the authors down. It’s very unsavory.

    @The J.A.M.

    It’s what my parents always told me when I asked that question.

    No kids yet, but I already promised myself that if they ask that question I will tell them about other cultures. Actually in Japan it is separate, there is a “Girls’ Day” for daughters and a “Boys Day” for sons. But most will likely agree that the shopworn response of “Every day is childrens day” sounds so goddamn corny.
