    Ouch! Yet it’s true that the colonialists were divided in their support for the Revolution. To stay true to the King when everyone else around you was not was a bad thing; to join the revolutionaries when everyone else around you was sticking with the King was a bad thing as well. It varied from town to town, colony to colony.

    My family was divided, most for the Royals, a strong minority for the Colonists. Guess who ended up in Nova Scotia. Most of the former Royals sort of meandered back to Marshfield over the years; some got displaced from Nova Scotia to Louisiana. Legend has it that to this day the 4th of July celebration in Marshfield is relatively subdued…You’ve heard about the Boston Tea Party, of course. Marshfield had a “burn the tea” party on what would later be called Tea Rock Hill.
