Wow, everybody’s getting in the ring! Too bad I can’t get the other announcer, the guy with the mustache, to say “Hey, and here comes Buzza Wuzza too!”. I’d have to bust out my old moves! Right? Sure. This strip rocks!
Okay – did ANYBODY see this coming?I mean the King entering the ring – none of us expected Thunderchild to “come quietly.”This ranks up there with Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant!
Now lets see, three known tough men plus two guns, plus an entire police department (which I don’t think will be necessary) vs. a spoiled (buff) brat child, and did anybody mention assaulting two(2) police officers, plus resisting arrest … Have you ever seen what a tazer does to a big mussel I mean muscle man? It does the same thing to a not so muscle developed man. He will feel like that lobster with hands tied in boiling water 100% of the time. jail is going to be hard for thunderbaby. This strip is so cool it really does bring a certain amount of joy to this middle-aged gentleman. Morning VB
Mike, I have a few questions. How did you and Joe become involved in taking over the strip? Was the strip in danger of cancellation before Locher took it? Was he involved in y’alls hiring? Thanks.
I must admit I was sort of with Mr. Hansel on this inasmuch as I don’t much care for wrestling, but not to the extreme of tuning out and dismissing this entirely. And I like the Mole and Vitamin Flintheart, so I was curious as to how this was going to play out, and it was slowly winning me over. Then last Sunday, with the brutal showdown that left Patty Cure with a black eye and a broken leg really had me intrigued. It was a great sequence, and I was much more with everyone else. This was fun. And the Mole getting in the ring. I was definitely with the strip.
Until today, this took me right back out of it again. Jerry Lawler, excuse me, King to come in and save the day. Really? REALLY??? sigh I mean, okay, it’s not like it’s instantly a bad story, or anything like that, and I know that not every Tracy story can be for every Tracy fan, nor should it be. But I’m disappointed that this isn’t coming down to a showdown between Thunderchild and Tracy…it’s not like Tracy isn’t handy with his fists as well, you know, and it’s not like in strip time Tracy is older than Jerry Lawler (who is 62, while Tracy is supposed to be in his late 40s/early 50s). Oh well. At least the art is good as always, and I enjoy what Curtis and Staton bring to the strip mostly. I’m just not particularly digging this.
This story has to be Mike and Joe’s treat to themselves, as well as to us. I bet they laughed until they cried doing the story…. a perfect spoof, respectfully done, on American entertainment. Luvin’ it!
I think Tracy and Sam were expecting TC to respect the law, and he took them by surprise. As far as Jerry King goes, his involvement in the action was foreshadowed by his statement “I love adventure” in his interview with Tracy.
Yes, Dick and Sam carry guns, but drawing them in this situation would be a bad idea. Even the best shots miss sometimes and there is a stadium full of people surrounding them. They know Blunderhead is not armed and they have some skill with unarmed fighting themselves. Besides, until he threw the Mole at them there was a chance he’d go quietly.
I love where this storyline has been, is now, and looks like it’s headed. Wow! Go Jerry! With apologies to “Airplane”, “Looks like I picked the wrong time to give up pro wrestling…” Really great work folks.
Wow, this is good. If Lawler, er, I mean “King” is wearing tights with a single shoulder strap under that jacket, I will have EVEN MORE respect for our new Tracy team. And that’s saying something – the mad respect I have for them now is already off the charts!
