Many English only speakers, regardless of country of origin (America, England, Australia), will speak louder if they feel the other person doesn’t understand them. They think that speaking loudly will get the message across. These are the same people that will start speaking loudly at you even if you speak English if you don’t move fast enough or ask for clarification.
