Verla has her hand raised. Is she asking permission to use the facilities?

    Happy Sunday!

And Burl responded so quickly! Who said he wasn’t high-functioning?

Lordy, Lordy Miss Clardy, does it smell around here! Somewhere close by a skunk got excited and we are paying the price. It’s just oozing through the windows, closed or not. Yuck.

    Good morning youse guys.

Oh, Mikie, that’s awful! You poor soul! Skunk-stank is absolutely wretched! There isn’t much you can do about it until it dissipates, is there…

    Good Morning Crustwoodites.

Hey maybe that could be Crustwood Heightsites!

Bet that red coffee cup was stolen from the Crustwood Heights Country Club…. maybe at an open house cos they aren’t members and none would invite them.

I have a feeling Crustwood Heights is actually a big step above the Pennys’ neighborhood.

They think of their street as Lower Crustwood Heights.

(An aside: In San Francisco, a rental agent saying “It’s in Lower Nob Hill” might mean it’s a mile downhill from that elegant area, in a building covered with gang graffiti.)

I digress…. mostly cos I’m still trying to figure out today’s strip.

I only get one TV channel and I’ve never seen most cable shows….

I’m thinking this is Ghost Hunters?

But is “Dummies say what?” a catchphrase? I don’t know it and haven’t found it on Google —

But coincidentally, Bucky, in today’s “Get Fuzzy”, says “Moron says what?” like it’s a riddle.

And I can’t tell who’s saying it. It looks like Verl, but Burl’s line makes me think it’s the guy on TV…

so why are Jerry and Joy so shocked?

And is Burl showing by that question that he’s a dummy?

    Somebody ’splain me……Please?

I DO know that it’s time for Jerry to stop being hopeful for a spot in the 2004 Olympics.

Oh, and Mikie, it’s been some sort of Skunk Week here.

The weather keeps alternating between cold (for here) and raining, and the skunks seem to be out looking for homes…

The whole neighborhood has smelled skunky for hours, about every other day, and my place is drafty.

They’ve been getting hit on the freeway, too — so you get to drive through a mile of eau de skunk.

    Mmmmm… fun.

Casper, The friendly ghost, the friendliest ghost you know. . . Good morning all! I remember the show as well as the comic books. I never liked ghostbusters much; maybe it’s a ghost in the white screen calling the 2 men dummys, and Verle may be trying to block her own view?

I’m happy that I very seldom see a squirrel here, much less a skunk, though I have seen tiny field mice hiding in the cracks between blocks of my raised flowerbeds, and we have tiny geckos all over the walls in nice weather.

I’m not sure I get it, unless on TV the ghost on the show is saying “Dummies say what” and Burl says “what, what did he say?” making him a dummy. Jerry and Verla see it coming and then Joy “gets it” as she raises her hand to get Burl to stop talking. Is that what’s happening?

Hello fellow Crustwoodians. I get it. It is actually and old – sophomoric joke. Some one says in a quieter than normal voice, “A (put your insult here) says what?” And the target, not comprehending what they said will ask, “What?” Then those around will laugh and/or someone will say, “I thought so!”I have heard it with insults to sexual gender, intelligence, unfortunately even race related. “Dummy” being mild and at least not a bigoted remark. Anyway, I thought the comic was funny.

I see a rather generic looking ghost, but hardly one I would think of as Casper.

Casper was a cute ghost which is why I liked the comics (also liked Richie Rich as a kid).@GymShoe, I like Noella’s too.@Finale, I’ll have to look back to see what I said about a King. I make a bunch of comments on GoComics then go off to do lots of other stuff and when I come back don’t remember all of them (on DS?)I made comments on more strips than usual today ;-)
