Looks like Milford was ahead by eight points before Bowen missed the lay-up, so even after this run by Madison, the Mudlarks should still be in the game. Good work by Rod Whigham, the ball and rim are nicely proportioned today. I guess Bowen traveled in the second panel.

Milford are AT Madison – so to me it looks like Milford was already trailing by 8…

Back when I played, it was always home team score on the left, visitors’ score on the right. That was 40 years ago, maybe it’s changed since then.

Or maybe it was a local custom.

Another game already they must be on the same crunch schedule as the NBA.

Milford is attempting to confuse Madison by wearing home jerseys on the road.

Is the ref whistling his own foul?

Hey! Isn’t that ref MacDonald Carey from “The Days of Our Lives?”Bobby Ottewill and Timmy Summers must have huge game for a win. Bowen’s a headcase.

Darn it, Parker would have made that layup if his eye hadn’t exploded at the last moment!

I’m not sure why Parker didn’t just dunk the ball. Given the fact he and the ball must have both been on their way back down in P1 after the shot, his hand must have been close to the top of the backboard when he released the ball.

Why are there musical notes coming out of the ref’s whistle? Is MacDonald Carey blowing the Milford fight song? Must be a pretty nice whistle. I thought a whistle would make a “ping” sound. Why no mention of the tats today?

Parker missed the layup because he forgot to factor in the weight of his tattoo when he jumped.

He missed the dunk because his hand is turned around. Was he trying to’ finger-roll’ it in?

P3. Not only does Madison not miss with the ball, but they also have laundry going through the hoop.

@sdebarr: I thought the same thing about Parker looking oddly shrunken, but I wanted to keep it positive.

Any other votes out there? Was Milford ahead or trailing in the first panel? Maybe my memory is playing tricks on me.

I don’t remember the home team ever being on the left side of the scoreboard. Although it could have been true when I was in high school, wouldn’t remember.

On the other hand, I don’t remember any scoreboards being at backboard level and lower. Maybe it’s an old style manual scoreboard like they have at Fenway. The janitor (whose floor shining abilities suck by the way) is behind there hanging the numbers on the board.

The scoreboards were on the left in the ‘50s when Coach Gil Thorp’s Milford Mudlarks defeated Coach Norman Dale’s Hickory squad.
