We could stand to go back to six channels. A lot of the shows on cable are just plain crap.

Saturday mornings were filled with Looney Tunes (Bugs, Daffy, Yosemite Sam, et. al.). Captain Crunch was a favorite…little did I know I was setting myself up for spending a fortune with my dentist!

We only had four channels locally back in the 60s and 70s. I miss the local weatherman (before they were meteorologists) who was also the lead character on “Salty Sam’s (sailor with an eyepatch) Super Saturday Show” with cartoons and games. Those were the days.

Saturday morning TV – Winkie Dink! We listened to Out Miss Brooks and Amos’n’Andy on the radio. For a long time I drove a green Hornet, and I could tell how old people were (my age!) by their reaction when I told them.

Cartoons used to be fun, now you can’t have a cartoon unless it’s educational—-kids should have something that’s just fun once in a while.

How about Little Orphan Annie, Terry and the Pirates, Jack Armstrong the All-American Boy, Lux Radio Theater, Inner Sanctum, Mr Keen Tracer of Lost Persons, Mr. District Attorney. Now there’s memories! Of course, I’m reveaing my age group (82). TV sucks!

I love tv. Basic cable dramas & HBO. Good stuff. Sunday morning cartoons were the Sunday funnies with my grandpa in the ’40s.

We didn’t get a tv until I was nine so we listened to the radio shows like The Shadow, Jack Benny and Amos and Andy. When we got our first tv we got two channels. Now, I don’t watch tv or listen to the radio

There are some shows on today that are great to watch: Castle, Supernatural, Alcatraz, Once Upon a Time, and a few years back they relaunched Doctor Who, which I’m grateful for.

We began the day with “God Save the Queen”. After the test pattern I think. They may have played “O Canada” at midnight, I don’t recall.

Yeah, we had only six channels, too…and no internet…or video games…or cell phones…or iPads…somehow, we kids survived by actually going outside and DOING stuff to entertain ourselves.
