It looks like one of those “gift” bags that the makeup people give away, but I’ll bet he liberated it from a storage unit.

Or maybe it was a marketing promo thingy; Calgon put a box of dishwasher detergent in it for $2.00. Could be.

At any rate, Burl is sharp as a tack. He is trying to pre-limit Joy’s purchases whilst on vacation. (Ma must have come through yet again.)

Mikie, I’m with you on the storage “liberation”…but that slogan (Calgon, take me away!) was for water softening bath salts in the 70’s.

The $2 price tag makes me think it was a promotional item back then, and it’s been in somebody’s storage ever since. Till now.

Hump Day is Wednesday — the middle of the week…. downhill on the other side.

Good morning! Our local newscasters call it hump day and tomorrow, Friday eve. This is also Whirlybird Wendsday because the station helicopter (if there’s no news to cover) gets taken to one of the local schools to visit some kids. It lands in the school yard.

Lay off Burl folks, it’s the thought that counts…..well maybe not.I am sure the Pennys will dine at a fancy restaurant at Epcot. Under the golden arches. Hey, if they didn’t want us to take extra ketchup and stuff, they wouldn’t leave it out.

Shampoo, skin lotion and whatever else is in the room (or on a housekeeping cart; better known to them as “jackpot”). How many shower caps do you think they have at home?

“Hump day” is midwest slang for Wednesday. Once I met somebody from upstate new York who moved to Ohio for a job. She had never heard of it. Verl’s lucky they can afford to go on any trip, so why is she questioning a measly $2.00? lol

wednesday is traditionally known as hump day — it’s not just a midwest thing. but any day can and by gadfrey should be a “hump” day! (except of course for burl and verl because that image is just too gross to contemplate.)

I would like to add to my original posting that the behavior of the Penny’s and their friends is not limited to any one specific class — whether we base class on upbringing, education, or finances.

In the working world, Wednesday was known as Hump Day. Once Wednesday was over, you were over the hump, and it was all downhill from there.

The other day I was amazed that my post had seemingly been deleted for a little very mildly suggestive content…

but today there was nothing the least bit inappropriate — just a suggestion about where to look for the lips and a quick reply to Mona.

Some of my phone posts have remained; but I’m wondering whether some fail to “stick.”

Anybody else having that problem?

It might appear in a demographic study, , or someone might say it rather disparagingly when trying to strictly define someone’s roots, but it’s considered almost pejorative.The “middle class” in American culture is much more broadly defined in the US than in Europe or the British Isles.More importantly, here in the states it’s a financial definition, and not based on social class, and rarely on job description.Any American sales clerk or factory worker can define him/herself as middle class by living, say, in the suburbs in a nice house, and being able to buy an electric coffeemaker and a nice television instead of spending everything on rent and food.A banker will usually show no alarm if his daughter dates the son of a plumber, if he comes from a nice neighborhood and goes to college.The “working poor” are those who can’t afford more than the basics of shelter and food, if that.They’re of statistical import, but would rarely say they are such…someone will self-identify (silently) as either “poor” or “middle class”, but it’s according to income.“Upper class” and “lower class,” even here, are often social distinctions; “middle class” is usually not… not to me and not to Julie, who wouldn’t think to define Burl and Joy as lower or working class.

Susan, a couple of us had our comments deleted over at Peanuts that suggested some songs for Snoopy to listen to in his broken-hearted state. Why they were deleted, I do not know.

I’ve not had any deleted since the old troll infestations, and glad of it.

Being a farm boy I thinks“hump” is what animals doto one another.
