Stone Soup by Jan Eliot
Val: It says here that girls who watch reality TV have very different expectations of life than girls who do not.
Joan: How so??
Holly: Did you know you can actually get a nose job IN a limo?!
I don’t watch the Super Bowl or any sports, for that matter. But, I can’t imagine how football would create unrealistic expectations in men. But, the competitive spirit, on the other hand…
My friend and I were talking about TV. She says, “My favorite thing to watch is Kim Kardashian. I wish I was her!” So it seems to be true in this case.
Ugh, after 1 1/2 seasons of Survivor (I couldn’t get through a full second season), that was the end of reality TV for me and I haven’t watched much of it since. Occasionally if I happen upon a show that is popular, I might stop for 5 min to see what the appeal is, but it usually disgusts me so much that I change the channel.
Hey Red. Did you hear the Larry the Cable Guy bit where he was over at a friend’s house and was asked if he wanted to watch an episode of “Cops”. Larry said yes so they went out onto the front porch. Turns out it was a re-run.
I don’t watch “reality shows” nowadays, but I did enjoy “Ace of Cakes,” which ended a year or so ago. Also, in the 1990’s, there were a couple of really well-done shows set in England, “The 1900 House” and “The Manor House.” In both of these, contemporary people agreed to live as closely as possible to the way that people would have lived one hundred years earlier. I thought these shows were quite educational, as well as being absorbing, because they showed a lot about how people lived around the turn of the last century. A cursive online search yielded http://www.pbs.org/manorhouse/ and http://www.tv.com/shows/the-1900-house/
Yeah. I never had TV as a kid so I spent all my time watching Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron and playing horses. I now own a horse and work with her everyday. Work for your dreams, and they will come true.

When it comes to reality TV, I only watch America’s Next Top Model since the winner is always unique in some way.

On the topic of nose jobs in a limo….does anyone remember a Saturday Night Live skit where a rabbi did a circumcision in a towncar?

I can’t stand most reality shows, especially Survivor. They’re annoying.

@herdleader58My favorite reality show is COPS, because it actually feels, you know, real.
