Reminds me of th e1960’s Civil Rights demonstrations where they would use a cattle prod on a woman and then show photos of her skirts flying up as evidences of “immorality”

The right wing “Nazis” never do get the point do they?

Socialism in the USA?AHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!Sorry, i’ll calm down now.I’m a foreigner, son of refugees from Communism. You don’t have anything that resembles socialism in the USA.Your Democrats are way too Conservative for any other country on the planet. You don’t even have free education, no wonder your kids are broke before they get jobs. And re Europe: Don’t confuse Communist Greece with the rest of the problem that was caused by the collapse of your unregulated financial systems.

I should comment on the actual subject.I can’t remember the last time I was so moved by a photograph. There are many ways to make a camera lie, but unless this image was severely photoshopped then it was quite explicit. And I do not believe that it was altered. What cowards those soldiers are!I am in awe of the women who have assembled in outrage of this incident. That such a tableau was played out is a very severe indictment about the Egyptian military and no trust can be placed in them for any power or national management.

Here’s how the Nazi leader himself defined Socialism:

“Whoever takes the words ’Deustchland Uber Alles to mean that nothing on this earth surpasses Germany, people and land, that man is a socialist”

    Adolf Hitler.

In other words, the Nazi party was Socialist for no other reason than because Hitler gave it that name.

Same sort of thing for that Great Champion of American Interests, Saddam Hussein. It may sound like I am having fun, but I am simply stating an incontrovertible bit of history.

Obama isn’t anywhere near socialist. you use Marx out of context in that he explained it as a important and positive change in human affairs. Coming from slightly north in canada we fared this last recession far better

Good point, and I hope that top-level diplomats from the USA (and everyone else) have been pointedly asking that question of their Egyptian counterparts. This is the time to put pressure on newly acquired friends. There would be no hope if they were foe.

Just for fun do try to get a few facts straight: the term “Nazi” was invented by Churchill as a term of derision for the NSDAP. As far as I know they never “Woked” anything BTW!

The tax loopholes you refer to were actually passed by Regan and Bush, exempting >60% of people with incomes of >$1M/yr from taxes.

Right now the TP/GOP is wailing madly about the Dems attempts to plug a few of those loopholes.

About as accurate as Faux News it seems.

You truly are stupid. Communism has always been a “red herring” in this country. It’s been a scare tactic for nearly 100 years. This new anti-socialism bit is little more than a new spin on an old record. Nice to see there are still morons who are still willing to take the bait.

@denis112: You do not want to be anything like a socialist country, like Norway or Sweden, maybe?

We got about the same return as we did for the $3 trilion that we squandered in Iraq. Of course, Of course, Obama hasn’t given us the thousands of dead American soldiers that Bush did, nor the tens of thousands of crippled vets, nor the hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis that Bush’s disastrous intervention produced. Obama hasn’t involved us in war crimes either, or … . But, need I go on? In less than a decade Bush and the Republicans in collusions with Wall Street plutocrats turned our growing, prosperous economy into a smoking ruin of debt, unemployment, and hopelessness. Now they want to use this mess as a pretext to impose a destructive austerity program, reversing or destroying the advances of the New Deal and other liberal innovations. When you think of the U.S., don’t imagine Europe, where Germany and Scandinavia have demonstrated the success of Social democratic policies. Think instead of Chile, where Chicago style economic theory by the Pinochet regime produced decades of destitution and suffering. Try to learn some accurate history!

Thank you!!!!!!!!! NPR’s only comment regarding this “incident”, identifying the woman as “blue bra” was that it “didn’t go over very well” with the people. who writes their copy? Thank you J.D.
