My neighborhood is near a river, and next to it is a trail that I like to walk along and I once saw a pair of deer in a nearby field, which was surprising since it takes at least 15 minutes to drive to the nearest mountainside or canyon from my home.

My dad had a hunting story. He and his cousin got turkey permists one year and went out hunting one day. After hours in a drizzling rain they decided to dry out in the car and following proper gun protocal they unloaded their shotguns and broke them down before storing them in the trunk. So they were sitting there in the front seat talking and one of them looked up and saw a tom turkey and his hens strolling by just a few yards in front of the car. They looked at each other, they looked at the turkey, then they jumped out of the car, went to the trunk, assembled and loaded their guns, stepped out from the back of the car, and the turkeys were gone.
