Well, at least they only got a crappy one we over-paid for, that the Air Force didn’t even want. Iran is to Republican foreign policy as Cain is to their domestic electoral policy.

Guys, I’m sorry, but these are some of the most ignorant comments I think I’ve ever read. No, we didn’t give them the drone; I don’t know where you got the idea the USAF didn’t want the drone, since it’s owned by and flown by the USAF; do you really think a drone is going to be a Trojan Horse that brings down Iran?; and all the evidence indicates that the drone followed its internal protocols when it lost touch with the controller and self-landed. How about doing a little reading before you weigh in on an issue: the loss of this drone to the Iranians is a disaster, since it will be shared with Russia and China. Summers has nailed this one.

truthslayer, you might try reading Aviation Week, or numerous other publications that give quite a bit of information. My brother alway cursed “Aviation Leak” when in the industry, because what they reported was accurate, and no, not “classified”. BTW there are a LOT of pieces of junk foisted on the military they don’t want. Remember when the initial “Bradley fighting vehicles” weren’t wanted because the armor caught fire if it was hit? The Israelis wouldn’t let their troops ride inside them until they themselves upgraded that armor. We eventually caught up. Then adding the stringers around Strykers because of a similar problem of not initially stopping rpg rounds.(like it was suppose to)

The greatest threat to the U.S., especially the economy may well be the “defense industry”. That is NOT the same as the military, which gets huge hunks of garbage shoved down their throats by Congress, like well, the F-22 (a part in every Congressional district) and the F-35.(newest piece of junk to replace very viable equipment, like the A-10 for close ground support.)

You’re talking to a guy that 24 years in Air Force intel here, so this ain’t my first rodeo, guys. Yeah, I used to read Av Week, and yeah, we were saddled with a lot of dumb weapons, but where’s your evidence that we didn’t want this one? I’m still waiting. And yes, the Air Force owns the system; it’s responsible for it and it operates it. So, don’t give me this we taxpayers own it crap. I know that ultimately the taxpayer “owns” it, but I’m talking about who has responsibility for it. And if you think the F-22 and F-35 are pieces of junk, you’re full of it, friend. The Raptor is the finest air superiority fighter in the world, period. The USAF’s gripe is that we didn’t get enough of them (China and Russia are still out there, fellas). The F-35 will also be an awesome plane, if Congress doesn’t f*** it up.

It’s sad that our two most reliable “manned” aircraft are still the B-52 and the A-10 (Air Force) the F-18 is still good, but being saddled (literally , like the 15) with too many "add on " missions. The thing is, if Korea could get the electronics, their F-50 would out compete the F-16. Lots of other countries are getting more “bang” literally for the buck. It is our CONTRACTING POLICIES that screw the taxpayer, as monopolies, not just “corporations” now make our purchasing decisions in military spending, and that is truly hazardous.

hmm there’s still that “military intelligence” oxymoron cropping up, isn’t there.
