Bags of dope were found while crossing the border and the band wasn’t held. That doesn’t seem right.

In 1975 when I was 22 years old, I was stripped searched by United States Customs at Baudette, Minnesota because they claimed to have found two marjuanna seeds in the vehicle

Mom always said to wear clean underwear in case of an accident, but that includes strip searches too!! LOL!!!

Sounds like the Mosquitos got very lucky. If the same thing happens to Spike Jr and he already has any kind of record, I’m betting things will go very badly. Great story guys!

i dont see how you can say th ecoloring is getting worse? whats your reasoning behind that exactly? is it the darker colors, or perhaps that theres more inking than coloring? or maybe you dont like the shade of blue in the background windows? as i recall, when tracy and sam were at cueballs, it was nighttime, so the darker colors work, also a bit of psychological tip of the hat.. the darker colors lend to a forboding sense of urgency, despair, or adds to the tension and anticipation in a scene.. all of which are pulled off perfectly in the last few days worth of strips. when i read it, i definitely “feel” like its nighttime in “tracyworld” and that, thanks to the blue hues outside.. its seems like either early dusk when the darkness is setting in or getting to be early daylight when the darkness is beginning to fade. and if it IS overnight, then the dimness in hq would make sense.. no need to be lighting up the entire squadroom when theres only tracy, sam and the chief (patton?) inside. great job to the colorist, artist and writer for conveying all this information in three daily panels. excellent work

tsull2121, meet Matthew P. Hansel. A few of us here know him from Locher days. You are about to open a can of worms where if you courteously disagree, you will unleash a temper tantrum like you’ve never seen. If you hang in there with your opinions, you will be called a “fanboy” and if you really tee him off, you will earn the name of “Magpie”, which Ludwig, myself, Sydney, and a few others have done. Good luck!

matt, the reason for the color reflection is simple. if you go back to the 70’s issues of the avengers comics, ms marvel’s costume reflected/highlighted blue, but in the late 90’s when perez and busiek took over it reflected grey and was commented on that she wore a leather costume. (in the 70’s its stated by the wasp that ms marvel’s costume is black). light reflects differently, and who’s to say tracy’s suit isnt purple, or indigo, or deep blue, or whatever. yes traditionally he wears a black suit, but maybe this time he pulled out his dark purple one? oh and by the way, i dont think my post was in a “nasty tone” at all, and i didnt take your reply that way either, but word of advice.. don’t “call me out” on things about art/coloring etc because i know more than just a bit about both. lets kep this “nitpick free” if at all possible

Matthew Hansel, Sorry I missed the Notice that you now own GoComics and the Dick Tracy Comic Strip. You probablywould rather live back in 1950 and watch B&W tv too.

thats good to know that you can bring an “expert eye” so to speak, to the discussion. i did not know that the dailies werent color, thanks for pointing that out. what have you had published? i’d think it would be interesting to know. oh and for th erecord.. i didnt start my comments as nasty in any regard, so please dont start yours to me in that way either. everyone here has my respect until they do something otherwise to tarnish that.. and to be honest since i have been starting to read tracy again on here i dont think i have seen a positive comment from you. maybe the old saying ‘you catch more flies with honey thanvinegar’ would apply.. or more to the point.. if you cant say somethign nice then dont say anything at all. whiel i am not encouraging “blind worship” in the least.. at least back up your comments instead of standing on your soapbox and lording all your “published experience” over us “lesser folk”. :)

I don’t want to start any arguments, I am going to just state a fact. The daily strips for Monday thru Saturday are all done in B&W by the creative team. They are “inked and lettered” in this very domicile. Only the Sunday is done with the intention that it will be colored. The colorist for the Sunday strip is Shane Fisher. All other colorization is done by a “colorist” who works for GoComics or is paid by them through some other agency. You can see other colored versions by visiting other sites. For example Comics Kingdom is the site used by the Chicago Tribune. My personal opinion is that I don’t mind the colorizing, but that the colorist tends to be to bright and garish for my tastes, and often gets hair color, or other details, wrong. Things like brown police cars and turn signal lights that are the wrong color and flashing lights that are the same color. I really hate the bright blue used for windows of vehicles or offices. I also wonder if Pat Patton’s hat will ever be colored blue. There are still sites that release the strip in B&W for those that prefer it that way.I come here for the comments. I tend to learn quite a bit by reading all of your comments every day, and I like to think I have found a small community of artists and loyal fans of Dick Tracy. I haven’t even been with you all for a year yet, but I have already become.. what word am I looking for? Fond? Familiar? Accustomed? Anyway, I LIKE coming here every day and reading what you all have to say.Is anyone else worried about WonderWarthog? I am hoping he is just taking a Christmas vacation since I haven’t heard from him in a while. I miss his poems.Oh, and MPH, thank you for the link in your post. I found it very educational and interesting. I have saved it to my computer.

Mr. Matthew P. Hansel, I may have been here before. It is possible to have more than one name. Do you always throw a fit when things don’t go your way, or is it just B&W vs color comics? You shouldn’t take life so seriously. It doesn’t last forever. Have a little fun once in a while. I do. People wouldn’t pick on you if you didn’t make it so easy and fun. ENJOY

I learned to enjoy DT as a child( and still do) and if all of you bickerers would do the same then it wouldn’t matter whether it was color or b/w. Save your negative remarks for the sports blogs. I have not enjoyed today’s comments at all.

Six parties making ALL the comments here would really be sad !

And here it was, I had been thinking that a circulation down to only 50 newspapers was bad news !

Good thing Curtis and Staton came along !

first of all matt, i am TRYING to be nice but you make it EXCEPTIONALLY difficult to do that. you remember felix unger’s assessment of the word ASSUME? well, you just did the first part of it to a “t”.

judging by your snarky comments i am going to make a “profile” of you.. not being mean at all so please dont take it that way. 1) you are someone who is very set in his ways and does not like change. 2) you can be very arrogant at times, but with reason. you DO have the knowledge to back up your comments but feel that we all should be “as knowledgeable and wise” as you 3) you are obviously much older than i am… and since i just turned 44 on the 5th of this month i’d peg you to be in yourlate 50’s at least 4) youre not an overly friendly person who isVERY opinionated and enjoys “calling people out” and even “belittling them” whenever you get the chance.

overall, this just makes you an overbearing jerk with a big mouth. while i am sure you have great insights to the business (you wouldnt have gotten published if you didnt know what you were doing) you are a blowhard who loves to hear himself talk, to the extent of shutting others out so you cant (or wont) hear them.

i have been reading comics books and newspaper strips since i was 5 years old, have had four years of multiple art classes, i understand the way comics and comic book companies work, having been around them all my life. so a word of caution, in a friendly manner, dont speak and assume things before you know the facts.

as a wise man once said it’s better to keep quiet nd be thought of a fool instead of speaking and being confirmed one
