Alix: How many volunteers will be in your camp in Haiti, Gramma? Gramma Evie: About 500, including the Carters. Alix: Are they as old as as you? Gramma Evie: The Carters are in their 80s! I'm one of the YOUNG ones. Alix: I guess Haiti has to take what it can get. Gramma Evie: HEY?!

She didn’t mean it in a vicious way. To Alix, Gramma seems ancient and she thinks old people should be in rockers on the front porch. Good for Evie for blowing away that stereotype!

Don’t you just love the innocence of youth? And the loud mouth? :)

My children are surprized when I remind them sometimes of my actual age. Each decade does bring changes but I do what I can. I find this decade that I have difficulty with steps that have higher than a normal rise. It is not difficult to step OVER the rim of a bathtub, but to step up onto it without anything to support my weight (or climb that last step out of the pool gracefully). I WILL add a railing to the top step when I can afford it. I would also never choose to climb up into a truck wthout an extra step. But I’m neither really old or heavy- 74 and 120).
