How many of your goals did you achieve? Nate: 1) Grow six inches... Francis: You're still the shortest kid in school. Nate: 2) Lead the soccer team to the state title... Francis: We were oh-and-twelve. Nate: 3) Make the academic honor roll... Francis: Nope. Nate: 4) Go steady with Jenny. Francis: She still can't stand you and is madly in love with T.J. Nate: 5) Get fewer detentions... Francis: You broke your own school record. Nate: 6) Continue to bring joy to everyone I meet. Improving their lives through the sheer dynamism of my personality. Good thing I threw in that last one, eh? Francis: Right. A sure thing to fall back on.

Honestly sometimes it feels like Francis is more of a jerk than Nate. And please don’t use that “They’re friends, it’s just friendly teasing” argument, it’s stale and overused. Besides, Francis does it consistently, and sometimes he does things to hurt Nate outside of his words that go way too far.
