Yeah, what’s wrong with Val having a turn? I wonder how much the walk to and from the pizza place would really help?

Val, Holly, Alix—has any of you ever heard of tinned pasta (Ravioli, Beefaroni, Alphagetti, …)?

Boo to all of those ideas. All it takes is a little effort to make a healthy, low-cost meal at home.

Am retired from the Fire Dept. so I do all the cooking. Meal A on Sun., Meal B on Mon., Meal C on Tues., Meal D on Wed. leftover A on Thurs., B on Fri., C on Sat., etc. We stay within our budget very nicely. Eat out about once or twice a month. Buy on sales, stock up, use freezer and fruit cellar.

So their school district doesn’t teach “home and careers” or health…or perhaps Miss 8th grader has been hiding in the girls’ room during that class.

Tuna noodle casserole is healthy and real easy to make. There must be 100 ways to make it. I start with a large can of Starkist tuna in water. Mix it in a bowl with a can of mushroom soup and can of water. Add salt and pepper and whatever other seasonings you like. Add some frozen peas if preferred. Then take the mixture and lay it over cooked noodles in a baking dish. Crumble up a cup or two of plain potato chips and sprinkle on top. Bake in 225 degree oven for 25 minutes. It serves about 6.

I tried that logic… it only burns a few calories compared to what you eat. :-(

Someone should show Holly the film “Super Size Me” by Morgan Spurlock if she isn’t convinced that eating fast food every meal every day is bad.

Holly, you CAN’T have fast food every night, so learn how to cook.

Technically, not all take out is fast food. Pizza for example if done right, takes over a day since the dough needs to rise in the refrigerator over night. It is also possible to order take out from restaurants.
