The bomb that hit Nagasaki killed almost all the Christians left in Japan, as they had been “isolated” there. Nuclear weapons are a “terror weapon” with little practical value in today’s world of insurgencies, and “limited targets” for their use. Even “tactical nukes” are a fairly idiotic concept. So, why do WE need to keep so many??

if you don’t want to understand the real issues, then it is “revisionist history” churchill, but if you want to take it deeper it is not.

the japanese DID want to surrender but thought it mean the public executioin of their emperor (which they thought a diety). they didn’t know what to do or how to communicate it effectively. They were culturally STUCK.

we didn’t trust them becuase they were talking peace with us whilst they bombed pearl harbor, treacherous dealings, in our culture (perfectly acceptable in japanese culture). Of course we also had a stranglehold on their oil, but we’ll forget about that for the moment.

had we had better communications with the japanese after nagasaki, the hiroshima bomb may not have been dropped. they were paralyzed and we took that as instransigence.

it is easy to criticize the US in hindsight and after what we found out. However the US, in the modern world, has never been in such a tenuous position. It was a desparate time and required desparate methods.

was the firebombing of dresdin “necessary”? if you weren’t living in the times you really don’t know, and it’s backseat driving.

nobody knew what the A bomb was going to do, everyone eas surprised. the USA was on-the-ropes before we dropped it and victory was not certain.

and while we were following the geneva convention, the japanese (and the nazi’s) were practicing very nasty warfare.

would you like your testicles cut off, forced to eat them, then have your stomach cut open and take them back out again?

As for killing christians, the romans apparently didn’t have enough lions but they tried too.
