Such a wrong characture of the church. There are so many great churches across the world saving lives, taking in people in poverty, people in jail, people who are drug addicts. There are churches out there feeding people who cannot afford food. When a natural disaster happens, the church is usally one of the first to respond to the crisis with food, shelter, and water.
Not every church is like that. But by and large, a lot of churches are out there helping out.
