That was one of the downsides of middle and high school, no playground. Of course in high school there was always the child development class, where you got to work with kids in a preschool setting and play with them on their playground.
Ya gotta love the Charlie Brown stripe on Alix’s shirt lately! I feel the same, Alix; the rising sun isn’t itting me in the face now, but is shining on the fireplace a metre to my left. :(
Hmm… I’ll never figure the system out. I was sloppily homeschooled along with my 6 siblings: we had piano, math, and structured reading, and that was it. Other skills came from various activities (karate, summer rec, cub scouts) and from a slew of jobs starting at age 14 (we had to earn the money for the things we wanted). Yet I passed the GED without even trying, and went on to earn two degrees (I graduated 5 years ago). I remember seeing one high school-age girl’s face at a school bus window, and thinking she looked like a caged animal. Different strokes for different folks, but I wouldn’t trade the childhood I had for that many hours being molded into the ideal citizen.
Every month of school contains a holiday. In October, there’s Hallloween and a big costume party, November is Thanksgiving and a three day vacation, then comes Christmas, etc.
I spent my first year in school with my head on my deskl counting the butten hooks on the teacher’s shoes. She had a total of 19 as the right shoe was missing one. While our heads where down she read books. ALL DAY LONG. the only thing I learned was to count to 19. lol

Poor Alix! There is an upside to being in school, though… hang in there!
