The frightening thing is that people are taking this ape seriously… or is he just a media creation (ist)?

Ah, the liberal mind. So tolerant, so accepting of divergent ideas, so welcoming of multiculturalism. Besides, if he won the 2012 election, would he be our first president who wasn’t an evolutionist?

This might have seemed original about 200 years ago. @Pat O., Life is tough when you’ve got nothing and still have to waste some paper and ink.

    It’s like this…

Many years ago Steve Benson published a cartoon about an AZ state legislator, name of Jim Cooper. ( This was after Cooper tried to introduce an anti-evolution bill in the State Senate…for the third time. )

So Benson drew him as a monkey…and while many on the right objected, NOBODY called it ‘reverse racism’

D’ja think that might have ahd somemething to do with the fact that we DIDN’T have a black president at the time?

    Myself I think, “Ohhhh yeah.”

Also, back when I was in college, ( and this was well into the late 70s ) I found a flyer under my windshield-wiper, headlined with the bold proclamation, “Negro Is Related To Apes—Not White People.”

THAT is the difference…never seen a black man say the same thing about white folks

Completely ignorant of science. No wonder the righties like him so much. Perry will continue Bush’s work of pushing the USA further and further behind other countries, from Europe to the Far East.

One post, you attack Obama over his religious standards ( fake Christian ) and in the next you wail over religious litmus tests.

Who needs one face, when two are better, eh?

Evolution vs biblical teaching are “hard questions?” Let’s see…we have multiple wars, a deep recession, high unemployment, frozen government……

and this is a “hard question?” Talked about misplaced priorities….

No, Oliphant is not saying that Perry is flip-flopping It’s saying he is a major step back politically because of his regressive positions on the constitution, science, and other rational ideas.

No, you’re the one bashing Obama on HIS religious beliefs….and then complaining when someone does the same thing to Perry.

BTW, how do you know he’s on the green instead of going to church rather than playing golf AFTER attending church?

Because that’s whut ALL them durty. Gawdless lib’ruls do?

Simple fact is, a guy who started out fairly moderate has LEPT off his rocker to kiss up to the radical nut cases. Not a pretty picture of devolution.

Perry is flying in the face of well-established scientific fact and theory, accepted by well-educated rational people, so yes, that makes him either less intelligent, or a panderer to less-educated, less-rational people who might vote for him—people like you, maybe?

Zippy06- Bin Laden attacked us because of an infidel army (aka non-muslims) in the the Arabian Peninsula. Oh! Also, because he is crazy?

Bush & the GOP had 6 years of total government control. They told us over & over the economy was poised for years of growth & that Federal Budget deficits were not an urgent problem. Tax cuts for investment gamblers & privatizing Social Security were more important, but not as important as a bungled invasion of Iraq.

    You’re as delusional as Perry.

Bin Laden called on Americans to “reject the immoral acts of fornication, homosexuality, intoxicants, gambling, and usury.”

Sounds a lot like our religious right wingers!

Oliphant isn’t poking fun at Perry’s religious beliefs. He’s making fun of his irrational beliefs.

This is really simple people. Evolution is a fact and has been proven..Anthropogenic Global Warming is not a fact and is a religion. In fact most of the scientific data does not support AGW, despite what the Gore-bots try and shove down your throat….

Alright, compromise, then: the Creation story in Genesis (both of them) may be taught in schools as an alternative to the Theory of Evolution if and only if the creation myths of at least seven other faith systems are taught with the same depth and conviction along side it.

Further, graduation from high school will require a student demonstrate a minimum of a 90% comprehension of all these stories.

Now then, for the slow class: Evolution is a Theory based in reason and observable facts and has withstood the most intense scrutiny.

The Creation Myth is at best a fable, is backed up by nothing suggesting observable evidence, but persists only on account of tradition. Frankly, even the book of Genesis (which wasn’t even taken seriously as a literal account until the mid 19th Century) presents two “creation” fables, neither of which even agree with each other on even the sequence of events.
