Looks like Wildcat Maris is a plumbing contractor with delusions of grandeur. I hope at some point we’ll learn why he thinks he has so much influence. I’m out of my element here — does anyone know what high school boosters do that would make coaches feel obligated to them? Aside from staffing the concession stands, nothing comes to mind.
Check the arm in P1 on Kaz. It’s as big as his thigh. Is he going to give the players some of his HGH? I’ve been reading the strip since it’s inception ( missed some years, of course), but Wildcat is a new guy to me. Will he expose the PTA slush fund tha’s been going to Gil? Deke doesn’t know Kaz by sight? Will the new offense be the Mudlark Wildcat?
Who is ‘OB’, the mug in P1? I’m thinking that the Wildcat character may have been introduced solely to bring Deke onto the staff, now Mr. Maris can slip into oblivion, fixing those leaky pipes, etc.

I agree with all of you that have no recollection of this guy. I have been reading this from the beginning and I do not know this guy. My guess is it’s one of Ohio States underlings that got tossed with Tressel. I think there is going to be some trouble brewing.

Mm, I only started following the strip in the late 80s, so if he’s a character from the past, it’d have to be earlier than that.

Been following the strip since the late 1970’s, no recollection of Mildcat. Some booster clubs will also supplement the coaching staffs salaries.
