I think the cartoon is fairly accurate. Both parties “own” the mess. The Tea Party folks are trying to get our country back. The name says it all: Taxed Enough Already!!!!! Someone has to have the courage to dial back on needless spending!

Because according to our friends on the other side of the isle, rich guys who think exactly the same way they do (the I got mine’s, screw you crowd) are gonna give us jobs.

I love how Michelle Bachmann spoke out against, and voted against, every attempt to raise the debt ceiling, and then had the unmitigated gall to blame the lowering of the USA’s credit rating on Obama. She is truly scum.

Anthony, you obviously have no idea how to manage credit cards. The government is exhibiting the same symptoms that created the housing bubble. Here’s what I mean…People saw their housing market spike, so they releveraged their homes and continued their spending binge. But when housing prices crashed and they got underwater, they looked at themselves and blamed someone else for their crappy situation. But if you look at the original cause, it’s not that the home values dropped, it’s that they overleveraged themselves in the past..The only way to fix our fiscal house is to strip down spending across all facets. All of them. This isn’t an income problem, this is a spending problem. And until we get the spending under control, we won’t solve the problem. And those who think we need to “shrink the military” need to look at what cuts were just made. $350 billion cut in 10 years. That’s roughly 350,000 troops’-worth of cuts. That’s a 20-30% force reduction if we take troops out of service. Maybe we should fire 20-30% of the nation’s public work force in exchange for the sacrifice our servicemembers are making.

Wraith, I’m not sure how my relating of Bachmann’s action translates into my management of credit cards. S&P lowered the rating because of all the waffling about raising the debt ceiling, and Bachmann is part of that. Yet rather than showing some integrity and acceptance, she instead blames it on Obama. That’s the only point I was making.(For the record, I only have two credit cards, and pay them off fully every month. Have never in my life had an interest or finance charge. You too?)
