I remember another story in which Little Abner and Dasy Mae found out they were not legally married. The local orphanage came and took their son, Honest Abe, away. By law Abe would not have been an orphan since his parents were still alive even if they were not legally married. Are there really anyplace where the people are as stupid as the people of Dogpatch? I doubt it!
