Raising taxes was followed by a huge economic recovery when Bush, Reagan, and Clinton did it. It’s got a much better track record than cutting taxes. We could try it.
Swirly, half my “income” isn’t taxable- I don’t make all that much, but still pay a higher percentage in income tax than Warren Buffet and other billionaires. We also aren’t “keeping up with Obama’s spending”- we’re still trying to pay down what “W”, Reagan, and GHW put on the books!! Yes, some people DO learn from history, and try NOT to repeat it, but that does NOT INCLUDE Boehner and the boneheads in his party.
You legally contract for foreign wars, military bases, social programs, necessary infrastructure and institutions, you need to pay for them through taxation. You don’t and the empire crumbles under the weight of debt and a debased currency.
