Just the continuation of the “W” and “conservatives” job creating tax (budget) budget cuts, with of course addendum from the anti-science folks on both sides. Now if the kid wants to be a Marine or disabled vet- trying to survive- plenty of opportunity there.

Jack, F-22 = piece of junk, cancelled. The F-35 is still alive and getting more expensive every day- now projected at a total of a trillion dollars for that one weapon system. The VTOL Marine version is still on, but as a short take off-vertical landing, they couldn’t get enough power out of the engines offered for vertical takeoff. The A-10 Warthog was a much better weapon for " the wars we’ve got", as Rummy would say, and yes, Navy and Air Force ARE dumping personnel.

the real “bank breaker” is all the contracts for multiple editions of pilotless aircraft systems, like Global Hawk, is up over 45 Billion dollars. Sure can’t cut any of that “defense” contracting to save a few bucks, t’wouldn’t be “Republican” of them.

I can’t stand seeing Ramirez cartoons but I come to this page to enjoy dtroutma, Kimberly, and the legendary1. It’s always nice to encounter a few thinking people in this retrograde age of Limbaugh/Bachmann.

And, the Global Hawk, like most “systems” is NOT meeting its design test criteria- while taxpayers keep adding to the R & D payments, for all these “systems”— that manufacturers once upon a time developed working prototypes of, and only AFTER they worked did we actually buy any.

The “ethical” cost of drone warfare may be past the tipping point, but who cares about “ethics” of killing, remotely, the wrong people, when you’re “defending” – empire?
