Man: I won my bid on eBay. Woman: What did you buy? Man: Um...an iron ore smelter. Woman: What?? Man: Well, you kind of get caught up in the bidding...we could use it for a barbecue pit. Woman: Or a viking funeral pyre.
I think the opening sentence should have read “I won my auction on eBay”, or if you want to keep the word “bid” in there, then “I had the high bid on an eBay auction”.
Luckily, he wasn’t selling it. ebay charges around 3% of the final cost and then if you get paid by PayPal (owned by ebay), that’s another 3%. Pretty good racket!
