Joan: Would Mom really let Andy throw a party while we're up here camping?
Val: You know MOM. Up for anything.
Joan: So...do we let on that we KNOW?
Val: I say, "Don't ask, don't tell."
Wally: And pretend you don't see the bottle caps in the bushes.

Sounds like a plan to me! Let everyone have some fun! Everything will be back to “normal” soon enough!

As long as everything is cleaned up and no one is hurt, it’ll be a good experience for him in “party planning”.

Drinking age is 19 or even 18 in parts of Canada, so learning to plan parties tends to begin young. One of my sons’ friends had a good formula: keep the guest list fairly small; assign what food people should bring; collect all the car keys; make sure people have either a parental ride home, cab fare or a blanket; put all the mattresses on the floor in one room so that stay-overs have an innocent “puppy pile” instead of “Heineken romances.”

“Bottle caps in the bushes”…sounds likes the beginnings of a hit country song.

I glad I don’t live there. What a mess getting the house back to normal.

@ Kab Buch, Stone Soup or Canada? Looks as if Grandma kept the party in the back yard – good move. As for Canada, that youngster is so well organized that he probably has a cleanup crew as well.

My daughter and I went away over her Thanksgiving break a few years ago. When we got home there were a couple of those popular red plastic cups around the house, but no signs of anything else awry. Here we are almost six years down the road, and my son (who was then in college and declined to come on the trip) just posted pictures on Facebook of the event. He and his friends cleaned up really well, didn’t break anything and other than the few stray cups would have left absolutely no reason for me to suspect a thing. I guess he figured that at my age I wouldn’t remember anything about asking questions concerning parties and red cups….LOL

Well my lovely Mother always said that it wasn’t the parties that got her in trouble. But the clean up. If it wasn’t good enough, she got into trouble.I bet Grandma will have everything cleaned up by the time they get home.

If it’s a ‘Clinton era’ party there’ll be more than bottle caps in the bushes!
