Give it a few years, only ten countries will NOT allow gay marriages. Or, put another way, only ten countries will not have marriage equality.

That totally worked in Hawaii, didn’t it. Oh wait, it didn’t.

Why is it that religion has the corner on this Pagan practice, anyway? Love and marriage have nothing to do with some irrelevant books written 100 generations ago!

Seeing the religious right and conservatives squirm and throwing hissy fits now makes the wait worth it!

Seems to me there’s no point in trying to go for a lesser type with fewer protections across states when even going the separate and not equal approach doesn’t work. The opposing forces are against any semblance of civil rights for gays.Personally I say get government out of marriage entirely and it can only deal in civil unions. Then both sides can shut up.

@grayhares01 Great post! You even got IrishEddieOhair worked up. He’s a little incoherent, but IEO seems to be saying you should only believe the parts of the bible he agrees with.

Normally I like you but this has gotta stop. I don’t care about what a bunch of guys who had harems have to say about this issue (after all they’re the ones who wrote that book you’re reading). Join the 21st century already. Stop listening to a bunch of guys who rape little boys in the butt and rejoin society. You don’t have to be gay, just tolerant. After all they’re a bunch of evangelicals who think you’re just as bad as those homersexuals you’re getting whipped up over.

A number of my gay friends (married and otherwise) feel that government should get the heck out of marriage, as it is a religious issue. Then the Catholics (like IrishEddie) can forbid it, and the Episcopalians can permit it, and the people involved can be in whatever faith they believe to be right. The issue is that government gives exceptions and benefits for married people (rooted in the idea that couples are good things for society and the community), so you can’t get them out completely unless you eliminate all that as well.

I admit I’m no expert, but I’m pretty sure “Adam and Eve” was one of those “parables” — useful in helping dumb people understand the complicated issues in life, but never intended to be the truth. I thought you guys knew about parables! Every time something in the Bible (which the strong in faith swear on their precious little hearts is true) is shown to be not only inaccurate but Pants on Fire Wrong, it almost immediately becomes…a “parable”. I don’t think I COMPLETELY misrepresent the Greatest Not There There Ever Was. I merely claim He never dealt directly with mankind. Look at Mormonism. That’s just the most recent example of someone making up Faith.

Can please somebody hand a bible to the religious right and ask them the number of times Jesus opposed homosexuality vs. the number of times he opposed adultery and divorce? Why aren’t there any laws against this behavior?

How about the poses and bishops who knew those things were happening (in residential schools and all) and kept the whole thing under wraps?Or even claimed that the child tempted the priest?

the holy catholic church!, there’s a funny one eddieO.

now how does this tax exempt criminal organization deal with pedophile agents of their evil?

i suppose you fully support that too, along with a wife “submitting” to her husband.
