Those tax breaks for the oil companies may require “zero cash disbursements,” but they also diminish the tax revenue the Treasury receives. The result is the same: the treasury has less money than it would without the subsidies/tax breaks.
Allow me to clarify. I’m not advocating continuing subsidies on ethanol. I’m advocating the end of all tax breaks for oil companies.
