Who’s Daddy dealing with, Saddam Hussein? (I guess not, since Hussein was out of power by ‘04). I am endlessly fascinated by how brashly (I don’t necessarily mean that in a bad way) takes on the real geo-political world, more or less. Again, I ask: why don’t we have an ongoing ANNIE monthly or live-action TV show that takes this tack? Has the musical (as much as I love that, too) so completely eclipsed its source material that no one would “buy into” such a retooling of the property, getting it back to its roots?
I wonder who would have to sign the contracts to give us either a live action, CGI, or traditional cartoon version of Annie? There are ALWAYS contracts to sign…
